This file, along with TRANSFER.BAT is written to be used with XFER.EXE
and allows the full use of Omen Technology's DSZ and GSZ as external protocols
to GeoWorks Ensemble's GeoComm. XFER.EXE is avaialble as XFER42.ZIP and is
not included here to avoid duplication of files. Look for it elsewhere on
the BBS.
This shareware program is a bit better than the one included in the
ZMDMHKEY.EXE file. This too gives you menu driven access to X, Y, and
Zmodem but also includes the new graphic Zmodem GSZ, will remember the
list of files you batch uploaded in case you want to upload the same
batch to several BBS's, and even plays a tune when the transfer is
done. Place XFER.EXE in the same subdirectory as DSZ.COM or GSZ.EXE.
This is VERY important! Now run XFER (from the DOS command line if you like)
and choose the SETUP menu per the authors instructions. This will set your
COM port and file paths as well as sound choices, mouse options, color schemes,
DSZ or GSZ, and whether to save the batch file list for multiple BBS uploads.
Place TRANSFER.BAT in the GeoWorks "WORLD" subdirectory. You will
need to modify TRANSFER.BAT to reflect where DSZ (GSZ) and XFER are
located.
If you've used external protocols in GeoComm before you know
by now you have to alter the GEOS.INI file (with any editor) if you choose the
telecom icon as follows:
[filemanager]
filenameTokens = {
*.EXE = "gDOS",0
*.COM = "gDOS",0
TRANSFER.BAT = "TERM",0 <----add this line!!
*.BAT = "gDOS",0
}
Now while using GeoComm you can jump to the TRANSFER.BAT icon
once you are ready to send or receive files. As with the other
external protocol programs written for GeoComm, you might need to turn
DTR signal control off by typing the AT&D0 command either in a script
at the beginning of a session or from the GeoComm window and then set
your modem back with AT&D2 when you are done.
We all wait for the day when other protocols are built into
GeoComm. Thanks to GWRepDave and StephenLyn for paving the way for this
add-in. Please respect the author of XFER.EXE, if you use it, pay for it.
